Website rescue Website rescue for North Idaho and Spokane businesses

Every week someone calls us about a website they can’t control anymore. Another developer left it broken, locked you out or disappeared halfway. It’s usually fixable, and you don’t have to start over.

Drag to see a rebuild

Sound familiar?

What “stuck” usually looks like

Sometimes the developer stopped answering email. Sometimes the agency went under, got bought, or moved on to bigger clients. Sometimes the site still works but nobody knows the login, the domain is registered to a former employee, and the hosting bill is auto-charging a card that expired two years ago.

  • Nobody will return your call. Your site is live, but you can’t change a phone number without them.
  • You don’t own your own site. The domain and hosting sit in someone else’s account, and you pay monthly for something you can’t touch.
  • It works, but it’s falling behind. No updates in years, Google flagging it as not secure, slow on a phone.
  • Half-finished. Somebody started a redesign, took a deposit and disappeared.
  • One bad update broke it. A plugin conflict took the site down and nobody’s sure which one.

None of these need a rebuild by default. They need someone to open the hood, work out what’s actually there and tell you the truth about it. We’ve been doing this since 2005, and we call it website rescue.

Website health check before a rescue: domain not in the owner's name, no admin access, outdated software and no backups

How it works

How a rescue works

Step 1

We find out what you have

Where the domain is registered, who hosts it, what it’s built on and what’s at risk. You get a plain answer, not a report full of severity scores.

Step 2

We get you ownership

Domain in your name, hosting in your account, admin logins you hold. Your website should be an asset you own.

Step 3

We stabilize it

Security patches, backups, an SSL certificate and whatever is actively broken. Stop the bleeding first.

Step 4

Then you choose

Keep and maintain it, or rebuild if the repair would cost more. We’ll tell you which one you’re looking at.

Straight talk

What we’ll tell you honestly

A rescue isn’t always the right answer. If your site is built on an abandoned page builder, an undocumented custom theme or a platform several versions behind, the repair bill can exceed the rebuild. We’ll say so. We’d rather lose the smaller job than hand you a site that breaks again in six months.

And if you’re mid-contract with someone who’s simply slow rather than gone, we’ll tell you that too. Sometimes the fix is a firmer email, not a new vendor.

After a rescue, most sites move to managed hosting and updates, because what got you here was nobody watching the site. You can also take your working site and go. You’ll own everything either way.

Questions

Website rescue questions

My developer stopped responding. Can you take over my website?

Usually, yes. We find out where the domain, hosting and files live, get access in your name and take it from there.

I can’t log in to my own website. What now?

Start by gathering anything you have: old emails, invoices and the hosting company’s name. We’ll trace who controls the domain and hosting and work through recovering access.

Will I need a whole new website?

Not by default. Many sites only need attention. If the site is built on something so outdated that maintaining it costs more than replacing it, we’ll tell you before you spend anything.

Do you work with sites someone else built?

Yes. That’s what a rescue is. We take over sites built by other developers and agencies every week.

Who do you do this for?

Businesses across Coeur d’Alene, Post Falls, Hayden, Rathdrum, Sandpoint, Spirit Lake and the Spokane area: trades, clinics, churches, retail and professional services.

Not sure how bad it is?

That’s normal. Most people calling us don’t know what they’ve got, which is the whole problem. Send us the web address and we’ll take a look before you commit to anything.
