Who this policy covers
This policy covers information about visitors to our website, people who contact us or book a call, prospective clients, and our clients and their staff (“you”).
It does not cover information we handle on behalf of a client as part of our work for them, for example the customer records in a website, online store or CRM that we build or manage for that client. That client decides how its customers’ information is used, under its own privacy policy and its agreement with us. If you are a customer of one of our clients, please contact that business with questions about your information.
What we collect and why
Our guiding principle is to collect only what we need. Here’s what that means in practice.
Information you give us
When you fill out a form, book a call, call, text or email us, we collect what you provide: usually your name, company, email address, phone number, website address and your message. We use it to answer you, schedule and hold conversations, prepare quotes and proposals, and provide the services you ask for. If you check a consent box on one of our forms, we also record that consent, when it was given and the wording you agreed to.
Client project information
When you become a client, you may give us content, images, account logins and other details we need to do the work. We use these only to perform that work and support you, and we store logins in access-controlled tools.
Billing information
You can pay us by card, ACH or bank transfer, or check. Card and online bank payments are submitted directly to our payment processor; we don’t receive or store full card or bank account numbers. We keep a record of each invoice and payment (amount, date, method and, for cards, the last four digits) for account history, invoicing, taxes and billing support. Checks are deposited with our bank.
Communications
We keep a record of the emails, text messages and calls we exchange with you, including the content of messages, so we have a history to refer to if you contact us again. Calls may be recorded, as explained under Phone calls.
Website use and analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand how people use our website: for example, which pages are visited, how long they take to load, which website referred a visitor, the type of device and browser, and an approximate location derived from the IP address. We use this to improve the site and our marketing. You can learn how Google uses this data at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites, and opt out with Google’s browser add-on.
Security and spam protection
Our website is delivered and protected by Cloudflare, and our forms use automated bot checks (Cloudflare Turnstile or Google reCAPTCHA). These services evaluate information such as your IP address and how your browser behaves to tell people from automated programs. We receive the result, not the underlying information.
Cookies
A cookie is a small piece of text stored by your browser. We use cookies and similar technologies to keep the site working, protect it from abuse, remember preferences (for example, the display settings you choose in our accessibility tool) and measure how the site is used. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; some parts of the site, such as forms and booking, may not work properly without them. We don’t currently use advertising cookies on our website; if we start, we’ll update this policy first.
Free tools
Our free tools, such as the Google Business Profile grader and the calculators, run in your browser. What you type into them isn’t sent to us unless you choose to submit a form, such as a free website audit request.
Text messages (SMS)
We send text messages only to people who have agreed to receive them, for example by checking a consent box on one of our forms, by texting us first, or by giving us permission in writing or on a call.
- What we send: non-marketing messages, such as replies to your inquiry, appointment confirmations and reminders, project and account updates, and a follow-up if we miss your call; and, only if you separately agree to them, marketing messages such as offers and news.
- Consent is not a condition of purchase. You don’t have to agree to text messages to work with us.
- Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply.
- To stop: reply STOP (or STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END or QUIT) to any message. We’ll send one message confirming you’ve been unsubscribed and send no further texts unless you opt back in by replying START.
- For help: reply HELP, call (208) 964-9963 or email support@careyenterprises.com.
- Timing: we send texts between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. in your local time, except replies to messages you send us.
- Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties, other than the service providers that deliver our messages on our behalf.
The full text-message terms are in our Terms of Service.
We email you to answer your questions, confirm appointments, send proposals, invoices and project updates, and provide the services you’ve asked for. These messages continue while we’re working with you.
We send marketing emails, such as tips and news, only where you’ve agreed to receive them or as otherwise permitted by law. Every marketing email identifies Carey Enterprises as the sender, includes our postal mailing address and has an unsubscribe link. We honor unsubscribe requests within 10 business days. Our email tools may record whether an email was opened or a link clicked, so we know which messages are useful.
Phone calls
- Call tracking: some of our phone numbers, including the one on our Google Business Profile, are tracking numbers. When you call one, we record your phone number, the time and length of the call and how you found us.
- Call recording: calls with us may be recorded for quality, training and record-keeping. When a call is recorded, we tell you at the start of the call. If you’d rather not be recorded, tell us and we’ll stop recording, or you can email us instead.
- Calls we make: we call you to follow up on your inquiry, about your project or account, or as you’ve asked us to. We don’t place marketing calls or texts using an autodialer, an artificial voice or a prerecorded message without your prior express written consent.
- Do Not Call: we keep an internal do-not-call list. If you ask us not to call you, we’ll add your number and honor the request within 10 business days. Before any marketing call to someone who isn’t a client or hasn’t asked us to call, we check the National Do Not Call Registry.
- Missed calls: if we miss your call, we may send one text message to the number you called from to follow up. Reply STOP to opt out of further texts.
When we share information
With service providers that help us run our business. We use trusted companies for website hosting, security and delivery; our CRM, scheduling, forms and messaging platform; email delivery; payment processing; analytics; accounting; and file storage. They receive only what they need to provide their service to us and may not use it for their own purposes.
At your direction. For example, when you ask us to work with your other vendors, or to connect your website to another tool you use.
When required by law. We disclose information if we are compelled to by a valid subpoena, court order or other legal process, or where necessary to protect someone’s safety. Unless we are legally prohibited from doing so, we’ll tell you before we disclose your information. If we are audited by a tax authority, we share only the minimum billing information needed.
If our business changes hands. If Carey Enterprises is sold or merged, we’ll notify you before your personal information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
Aggregated and de-identified data. We may use information that no longer identifies anyone, for example total website visits, for any purpose.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share your mobile number or text-message consent with anyone for their marketing.
How long we keep it
We keep information for as long as we need it for the purposes above: inquiries for as long as the conversation is useful; client records for as long as we work together and afterward as needed for support, taxes, accounting and legal obligations; and opt-out records (STOP, unsubscribe and do-not-call requests) so we keep honoring them. After that, we delete or de-identify it.
Security
All data is encrypted via SSL/TLS when it travels between your browser and our website. We use reputable providers, limit who can access information, and protect accounts with strong passwords and two-factor authentication where available. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work hard to protect your information. If a security breach affects your personal information, we will notify you as required by law.
Your choices and rights
We apply the same rights to everyone, wherever you live:
- Know and access: ask what personal information we have about you and get a copy.
- Correct: ask us to fix information that’s wrong.
- Delete: ask us to delete your information, subject to limits under applicable law (for example, records we must keep for taxes, or opt-out records we keep so we don’t contact you again).
- Opt out of marketing: reply STOP to texts, use the unsubscribe link in emails, or ask us not to call.
- Non-discrimination: we won’t treat you differently for exercising these rights.
Residents of some states have additional rights under their state’s privacy laws, and we will honor them where they apply. To make a request, email support@careyenterprises.com or call (208) 964-9963. We may need to verify your identity, for example by confirming your name, email address and phone number, before we act on a request. If someone is making a request on your behalf, we’ll need your written permission. If we deny a request, we’ll explain why and how you can appeal.
Children
Our website and services are for businesses and are not directed to children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we’ll delete it.
Where your information is kept
Carey Enterprises operates in the United States, and our providers store information in the United States. If you contact us from outside the U.S., your information will be transferred to and stored in the United States.
Changes and questions
We may update this policy to reflect changes in the law or in our practices. When we make a significant change, we’ll update the date at the top of this page and take other appropriate steps to let you know.
